Jávea Christian Centre

The early years

The “Oasis Centre” in Jávea Port was established by Jávea Evangelical Church in 1994, as their 24/7 base  -  but which others could use  -  as the area lacked anything equivalent to a “Village Hall”.

                                                                        It was used for

                                                                        Sunday Services

                                                                        Owners Meetings

                                                                        Spanish Lessons at 5 levels

                                                                        Friday morning Mini Market

                                                                        Debriefings from Jávea Councillors

but we were always limited by having just the one room and no storage facilities.

Jávea Christian Centre

With almost 4 times as much space as the

Oasis, the JEC new premises on the Eastern

                                                                        outskirts of Jávea old town,

                                                                        in Calle Arquitecto Urteaga 25,

cost us only 50% more rent.

We had every expectation that the larger

premises would generate extra revenue, but

God other plans for balancing our income

with our expenses, but we had to be willing

to place our new home ‘on the altar’.

The ‘crisis’ forced many of our congregation to leave

Spain, or holiday here less often, and our outgoings for

rent and utilities (no one receives a stipend or salary)

were twice as large as our income. With mixed feelings,

we looked for cheaper premises, and found premises half

as big for half as much rent. We paid a deposit and, full

of confusion, asked Carmen (our Interpreter) to explain

to our Landlord that we can no longer afford to stay. His

response was TOTALLY UNEXPECTED: “They are

excellent tenants - we do not want to lose them - we will

halve the rent.” A Godly and miraculous outcome.
